The holiday season is here! Which means you may be looking forward to a number of get-togethers with friends and family. If you want to attend these celebrations with a brighter smile, then you may benefit from teeth whitening. Find out how our teeth whitening treatments help patients in Tucson, AZ.
What Causes Teeth Stains?
Why do stains appear on our teeth? A variety of factors lead to discoloration, including lack of proper oral hygiene (brushing and flossing), a diet high in sugar and starch, drinks with sugary and acidic content, and smoking.
In-Office and At-Home Teeth Whitening
We have two different treatment options available to help brighten teeth. Our in-office procedure removes stains in one visit. We begin by placing a protective covering on the lips and gums. We then apply the bleaching gel onto the teeth. We activate the gel with a light, lifting stains and offering a brighter smile in as little as one to two hours.
For more serious discoloration, we have a treatment you use from the comfort of your own home. We create a set of trays from a comfortable plastic and prescribe a bleaching gel. At home, patients fill the trays with gel and wear them for between a half hour and 45 minutes a day. For optimal results, they should be worn over the course of one to two weeks.
Keep Your Smile Bright!
Routine care helps your smile stay bright! We suggest brushing your teeth twice daily and flossing every night before bed. Don’t forget to also see us for routine cleanings and cut back on consuming sugary foods and drinks. Beverages with dark pigments, such as coffee, soda, red wine, and tea, also lead to a higher risk of teeth stains.
