Regular Dental Cleaning

Routine dental cleanings are performed alongside your regularly scheduled dental exams, which should occur at least once every six months. The process involves carefully and gently cleaning away all of the plaque and tartar (calcified plaque) from every surface of your teeth. This removes the threat of oral bacteria infecting your tooth structure or gum tissues, which could otherwise lead to developing tooth decay or gum disease.

Deep (Periodontal) Cleaning

Sometimes, oral bacteria may have a chance to work their way underneath your gums and lead to gingivitis (early gum disease) before your next dental cleaning. If we notice signs of gingivitis, then we may suggest periodontal cleaning, which involves carefully accessing and cleaning the surfaces of your teeth roots. Removing the plaque and tartar from underneath your gums can help the tissues heal, and if performed early enough, it may help you reverse the development of gum disease.
