SAY GOODBYE TO CAVITIES WITH TOOTH FILLINGS
Tooth decay affects almost every person you come into contact with at least once in his or her lifetime. Though you may remove most plaque – the leading cause of cavities – with brushing, flossing, and preventive visits, even small traces may result in cavity formation (the development of a hole in your tooth). Neglecting the problem will only lead to more severe consequences because tooth decay will continue to worsen until treated. Fortunately, we offer tooth fillings to address the decay and repair your tooth.
Address Tooth Decay with Fillings
A dental filling is comprised of a two-part process to address and remove tooth decay while repairing the structural integrity and appearance of your tooth. First, we will numb your tooth and the surrounding tissues to promote a comfortable procedure. After removing the decayed tissue and debris from within your cavity, we will then fill the opening, dry the filling, and then complete the restoration by making final adjustments to ensure a comfortable bite.
Why do I need a filling?
Ignoring a cavity may result in dire consequences. The cavity will grow and deepen, potentially leading to a broken tooth, which may result in an infection requiring root canal treatment, and the need for a dental crown. A filling will restore your tooth before additional treatment is required.
What type of filling do you offer?
Dr. Newman provides patients with mercury-free, metal-free, tooth-colored fillings.
What makes a tooth-colored filling different from metal fillings?
This filling is composed of composite, a synthetic acrylic-resin material, rather than amalgam, and may afford you the following benefits:
- We will color-match the filling to your tooth for a beautiful, undetectable finish.
- Composite is safe for nearly all of our patients, including metal allergy sufferers and pregnant women.
- Composite will not result in temperature-related sensitivity.
